Storefront product pages & Gutenberg

    Hello,

    We have the storefront theme with ’boutique’ child theme installed.

    Having just tested this with the Gutenberg plugin we have quite a major issue.

    Your child theme uses PRODUCT SHORT DESCRIPTION as the area to put the main description of the product and the main description box is not used.

    When using Gutenberg this product short description is relegated to the right hand bar with no wysiwyg editor at all and the main page content is blank…

    Is there any way to fix this as it is going to be a total nightmare otherwise?

    How can we get the product short description to pull in automatically from the main description box?

    Your child theme uses PRODUCT SHORT DESCRIPTION as the area to put the main description of the product and the main description box is not used.

    I’m unsure if something is conflicting with your set up but both of these are used. And this set up is controlled by the WooCommerce plugin and not the theme.

    The Short Product: this is displayed below the price.
    Main description: included further down in the Description field.

    Unfortunately, WooCommerce products are one of the Custom Post Types which aren’t fully supported by Gutenberg right now.

    If you do want to test out WooCommerce and Gutenberg integration, we currently have a Feature plugin available – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/woo-gutenberg-products-block/

    If you don’t want to switch to the Classic editor with each product edit. You can use the WooCommerce core Product CSV Importer and upload a CSV with changes using the SKU or post ID of the product and the Short Description.

    I’ll mark this as resolved as this query isn’t related to Storefront at all.
