I’ve been using Yoast SEO for years, but have never seen this issue… I have added a focus keyphrase, title and description to a post, and even have a green light for SEO. Yet when I look at the source code it shows a default description with a (read more) with an admin warning that the post does not have a meta description.

One post like this would be bad, but I have 173 of these happening across my site. Any idea what would be causing this? I’m using the latest version of the WP and Yoast.

Here’s a link to the Yoast panel of the post:

Thanks for reaching out here. We are sorry to hear that you’re having trouble having the Yoast SEO-specific meta description on the page source code.

We looked at the relevant page and were able to reproduce the issue. We see the page has no meta description at all which is very odd.

To see what’s going on, we’d first like you to please perform a conflict check. This will help us to identify the exact cause of the issue. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

If you do not feel comfortable to do this yourself or if this does not solve your issue, our Yoast SEO Premium plugin comes with one year of (technical) support.

Thank you @mazedulislamkhan for your help.

I hate to say it, but I’ve deactivated all plugins and switched to the Twenty Twenty One theme on our staging server, but the issue persists. No caching is enabled, and I also tested in an incognito window.

We are sorry to hear that you’re still having trouble with our plugin. Due to the nature of the issue, we’ll need to take a look at your setup. However, we are unable to do it here as this is a public forum.

So, if you have an active Yoast SEO Premium subscription or if you can consider buying one, we can investigate the issue further directly on your setup privately through email.

However, if you don’t wish to get the Yoast SEO Premium subscription, that’s completely fine. In this case, you’ll need to troubleshoot the issue further on your setup as we are literally out of any clue at this moment without taking a look at the setup. So, someone from the community might step forward as well who has experienced or familiar with the issue.

    Thanks for your understanding!
