• Hi all,

So, I migrated my WP 1.5 blog from a basic webhosting account on another server to a cPanel controlled vps at midphase. My vps is running mysql 4.0.25 and php 4.41. My old server was running mysql 4.0.16.

I did all the things you’re supposed to do to upgrade the database, and when I transferred the nameserver, everythign worked right on my blog. But only once. I accessed my “create a post” page and then tried to access another admin page and it gave me a db connection error. And it never corrected itself after that.

So, I checked the name/password stuff in the wp-config file the db is exactly as it’s supposed to be, but I kept getting the database connection error. So, I restarted the databse in my cPanel WHM. Then my blog worked again, but only once. The next click gave me the error.

So, I’m wondering what about the db or the config file is causing mysql to shut down. I’m not a mysql guru so I don’t really know where to start.

    Any help is much appreciated.

Well, I think i fixed it now. I deleted my username and then just recreated it (same name, same password) and that seemed to fix it. I’m not sure why, but I won’t argue. Now I can upgrade to WP 2!
