Strange error message on incoming links and plugins

Both these categories come up with this same message, which I don’t understand. It is: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in /home/jsellers/public_html/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 1777
Any suggestions on what is causing this and how I can stop it?
