Strange Happening with Tiny MCE

  • I have a couple of WordPress blogs that I am using as a more CMS based option,

    The problem I seem to have come across in WordPress v2.8 is with the Tiny MCE.

    What seems to be happening is… I click to add a new post Tiny MCE loads up I add a picture then I copy some text from a Quark File go in to WordPress v2.8 and paste, the screen stays white as if there has been no pasted content, the cursor drops a line….. so I looked the the HTML viewer, and for some strange reason Tiny MCE is adding a load of CSS which gives it its invisibliity.

    Its adding its own div’s with ID’s and adding its own style for every Paragraph… IF I use the Tiny MCE Text Editor option and paste it into there then insert, it comes up fine with no divs or ID’s.

    Do you think this could be the quark file adding its own style OR is Tiny MCE just got a couple of bug issues..?

  • Have you tried:

    – disabling Gears if you have that running/installed.

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems.

    – renaming the plugins folder via FTP

    After an afternoon of frustration and some trial-and-error, I believe I understand what makes this happen. I wish I knew how to fix it, or even if it can be….

    To invoke the _mcePaste bug:

    While running Safari Mac 4.0.3, and while working in WP 2 .8.4, attempt to paste any text which has DOUBLE RETURNS (such as at the end of a paragraph) and the editor will wrap each paragraph with:

    There may be more browsers that see this behavior, but I’m fairly certain that it’s the double return that is invoking the issue.

    Try pasting without any paragraph breaks and then editing.
    I will see if that solves my problem also.
    I can paste a formmated page or post but tinymce will not save the draft except for the title.
    The only way I can post anything is via the small post box on the dashboard page.
    Adding a page is impossible, so I add it as a post first then as a blank page with the same title and change the permalink to link to the post using the pretty-link plug-in.( A bit tricky in the order of things.)
    Frustrating as all —-.
    Adding guest posts using the MySQL database is almost easier.
