Hi, in my site I noticed a strange issue after last WordPress update. It seems to have problem with “cache”.

For example, if I log-in through the Home Page, after click in sign-in, the page refresh but it seems that the log-in didn’t work. If I press F5 to refresh the page, here I can now see the log-in effectuated. So it’s effectuated, but you have to refresh manually once after click “sign-in”, to see the access.

I thought about my caching plugin, and I wrote to the assistance of my provider. They exclude the problem is in caching plugin, they found this:

The issue appears to be caused from the latest WordPress upgrade that was automatically applied within your website.

    ` Code:

    sitename@esm9 [~/public_html]# wp core version
    4.7.4`

There seems to be conflict between a plugin of yours that is creating this strange behavior within the website.

To find which is the responsible plugin, you may start deactivating them one by one and after that checking the functions that were not working as expected. Once they work this will indicate which plugin caused the issue.

I did what they suggest, and when I deactivate BBPRESS, everything works! But……..

I restored WordPress to a few weeks ago, but still with the latest release.

Rstoring, the issue disappeared. And some plugins asked me to make an upgrade because of the restore to a few weeks ago. Due to the problem “solved”, I tried to update one plugin by one, and see if the problem comes back. Yes! It came back after the update of “Custom Sidebars”. Upgrading it, the issue appears again!

“ok” – I thought – “now deactivate it and see if the problem disappears”. Well, deactivating Custom Sidebars, the issue remains! And the only way to make it disappear is, now, deactivating BBpress.

It seems that the issue appears just when upgrading Custom Sidebars (with BBpress installed and working). Then, after the problem appears, the only way that seems working to make it disappear, is deactivating BBpress and not Custom Sidebars.

    What a confusion!

    What do you think?

  • PHP 7.1 and BBpress don’t seem to be good friends, yet. I was having strange issue as well. Try checking your PHP version, and downgrading it to 7.0, if you’re on 7.1..

    Cheers..

    Hello @ico33

I’m not able to replicate this issue. I tested with bbPress and Custom Sidebars on PHP 5.6 and PHP 7.1 and login works fine.
Do you test that with that cache plugin disable or enabled? This look like cache issue. What cache plugin are you using?

    kind regards,
    Kasia

Thank you for using Custom Sidebars. I am going to mark this topic resolved because we haven’t heard from you in awhile. If this issue was not resolved we can reopen it. Thanks again!

It’s not resolved. I also created a staging copy of my site, and the issue appears when I upgrade custom sidebars. When I do the upgrade, there is the problem of the refreshing of the page. For example, you do the login, and after click on sigh-in, the page refresh and it seems that you don’t log in. If you refresh manually again, the log-in appears, and so with other dynamic informations of the page.

So in my main site I don’t upgrade custom sidebars to the latest version. Don’t know what I can do…
