I recently moved hosting companies and have a strange performance issue which the hosting company can’t seem to help me with.

If I use GTMetrix to run a performance report it comes back with a ‘Fully Loaded Time’ of anywhere between 1.5 and 2.5 secs. The problem is this is not what I am seeing in real life, when I run the site on my PC its taking 6+ secs.

Interestingly if I use Pingdom then it produces results more like I am seeing in real life.

After investigating it appears the difference is reflected in the first line of the waterfall table. The wait time for GTMetrix (server in Canada) is usually between 200 and 300 ms, while the same line in Pingdom (server in San Fran) is 6 secs+ (my server is on the west coast somewhere).

Any ideas what is causing the difference, or how I can go about finding out the cause of this issue?

    Thanks

Moved to Fixing WordPress, this is not an Everything else WordPress topic.

Your site loads fine for me. I’d just go with the Pingdom results and not worry about it.

    Hi Jan

Sorry for posting to the wrong topic, I am new and was not sure if I should post this under Fixing or Everything else.

I wish I could not worry about it, but when I have a tech support person telling me my site is one of the fastest he’s used today and from my end it’s running like a dog then its not something I can just let go. It seems like he was getting the GTMetrix performance and I was getting the Pingdom performance.
