Strange Problem: Lots of listings are gone and are now user accounts?

    I have a very strange problem. Had several hundred listings in the directory. Someone was recently going through and updating all the listings to have a Region and State to work with the new plugin.

    However, now there are only 40 or so business listings. The missing ones appear to now be in the User Accounts???

    I was wracking my brain to see how this could have happened and have no clue. More importantly, I have absolutely no idea how to fix it.

    Any ideas???

    Hi crobley,

    If user accounts AND business listings are both disappearing, it could be from users getting deleted and then removing any posts attributed to them as well.

    Beyond that, BD doesn’t delete users ever. We only remove expired listings after a long time when the expiration passes. Sounds like something else tried to clean up the data in a bad way to me.

    Yeah its so strange. I was trying to even recreate the issue by selecting a listing from BD and then looking for someway to convert it to a user account or something?? Its so odd. So now I seem to have a ton of business directory listings that are now WordPress Users and no longer in the BD.

    Yeah, I’m not entirely sure what could be going on there. Did you change the registration settings on your site for BD? Have you been hacked by chance? Did you install something else that manages custom post types and users in a strange way?
