• I’m new to using the Share buttons and have the identical issue. I’ve tried removing all the Share buttons and reloading, but nothing seems to help. Can anyone throw any light on this?

I had a play with this again yesterday and discovered how Facebook decides what to include in a post. You can check this for any page at FB’s debug page, here: <https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/>. That shows the meta tags FB is picking up.

I found the simplest way to change the meta description was to install the Yoast plugin (which I had intended to get round to anyway).

    Hope it helps!

    Hey,

As geraldinecharles said, this can be overcome using open graph tags. There are many free plugins that can achieve this for you, simply search for SEO/Open Graph.

Alternatively, Simple Share Buttons Plus comes with this built in – https://simplesharebuttons.com/plus/

    Thanks,

Thanks, David – good to have some more options ??

I don’t understand. Does this mean sometimes this plugin will work and other times it won’t?

Does this plugin not install open graphs? It seems that’s required of any social sharing plugin these days.

LOL! I didn’t even notice that a particular plugin was being discussed, had had a hard time finding anything about this issue on any forum. The problem I was having was on straight WordPress, not using any plugin at all to begin with.
