• Hey, forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I keep on being in trouble with my host fatcow. First they reckoned that the index.php on a wordpress installation in my account was at the source of bulk emails, after replacing that file they blamed it on a particular post that attracted an (unnaturally) high amount of traffic, which is only visible on the account’s stats, NOT inside wordpress stats.
Only 2 days later they suspended the account again for “Server Load and resource abuse” and asked me to check the visitor stats.
Using Wordfence, I started blocking IPs with unusual / unrealistic patterns. Out of curiosity, I have also checked the whereabouts.
Pretty much all of them are Chinese – but the top one (the ip adress 65.254.225.176 with 18488 hits / 2922 visits for April only) is registered by The Endurance International Group, Inc.
Fatcow is part of the Endurance corporate family. How does that make sense??? Is that an indicator of a script that is somehow canibalizing my own site – or is that the Endurance group trying to bully me into sitelock? Please let me know if it makes sense to permanently BLOCK this IP adress – or if there is a “natural” explanation for the impact of an IP adress OWNED by that very company on my account. Am I paranoied?

  • Hi,
If this is your server IP address, then both cron jobs and some admin-ajax.php requests are requested via your own server IP, this is normal.

    Thanks.
