While the way you suggest is one way you can do it. The automated way (so you dont have to give a link in the purchase note manually)is easier for your customer and it is easy to setup. You can setup your product as follows (and yes you can still use your Google drive URL)
Step 1: Add product
WOOCOMMERCE > PRODUCTS > ADD PRODUCT
Step 2: Initial product settings
Choose “SIMPLE PRODUCT” s PRODUCT DATA dropdown and mark the checkboxes as “Virtual & Downloadable” checkboxes
Step 3: Setup your product info.
Under ‘general’ in your product settings add a SKU (if you need one), then add your PRICE. Then click “add file” in the DOWNLOADABLE FILE section. Here you give your file a Name (the customer will see this) and the URL (this can be the URL to your Google Drive file. Any of the other options as you see fit for your purposes.
After you have setup your product data and descriptions you can publish your product. Your customers will get the link automatically after purchase. This helps if you asleep and the file is purchased. They don’t have to wait for you to wake up to add it to their purchase note. ??
BONUS INFO: If you use a service like https://bit.ly you can make custom URL’s to your digital files this will give you analytics to see how may times that URL was used to access your file. This should balance with your purchases. If you see that you are having many more clicks than purchases then you know that someone has shared your file URL and it is being accessed without purchase. Then you can easily retire that shortened URL (so it does not work any longer and you can take further steps by changing/retiring the Google drive file URL)
NOTE: Even though you giving the URL to “Stream” your audio file – this file can still be downloaded from google drive (sometimes as simple as right clicking and choosing “save as”
