    Hi there

I have a free course set up that has a quiz in it. The site is set to use Strict mode. I have a quiz question at the end of the course that asks the user to confirm if they have watched all the videos.

If they select false, the quiz is marked as a fail. In Strict mode this should mean the course is not marked as complete. However the Quiz is marked complete regardless and users can complete the course and receive a certificate.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @chelseacarson08

Actually, sir strict mode means you have to complete all the lessons of that course but if you fail any quiz still your quiz section is complete because you have attended the quiz. Presently we have this option but very soon we are going to bring the feature also so that the student can not go to the next lesson unless they have passed the exam or quiz.

    Hello

Strict mode states users have to pass the quizzes to complete a course. So it shouldn’t be an option to have this and the auto complete turned on at the same time. Is this something that can be prioritised for the next update? As it’s technically a bug based on the current set up.

The functionality exists already to check for users passing a quiz, this just needs to be looped into the auto complete function.

From a UX perspective it’s probably a good idea to have the option to allow people to keep moving through lessons even if they fail a quiz. However don’t allow them to complete the course until they have passed the quizzes.

Actually what would make more sense is that in Strict mode, a quiz lesson is not marked compete until the quiz is passed.

Again from a UX perspective it’s confusing / misleading for the lesson of the quiz to be ticked off even if the user fails.

    Hello @chelseacarson08

I understand sir currently It’s not a bug it’s a feature we are upgrading the process gradually we are trying our best to bring this feature very soon.

Strict mode and auto complete mode are not compatible yet they can be turned on at the same time. This is therefore an error.

You’d need to have Strict mode disallowed when auto complete is on based on the way it functions currently.

Therefore this is a bug as the two options do not work when both turned on.

I second it. I discovered it just today when testing some of my quizzes. It makes very little to no sense to me. Strict mode should be a strict mode. Unless you pass all quizzes you shouldn’t be allowed to complete the course and thus be awarded a certificate. When students find out, and they will, they might start willy-nilly completing each quiz they, for some reason, don’t like or feel like taking. I find this “feature”, as it is now, quite weird TBH.

It’s worrying that you don’t seem to understand that this is a bug. Strict mode clearly states the user has to PASS the quiz. Yet you’ve just stated it only checked if they’ve attempted it. It’s quite obviously checking the wrong thing.

And you’re answer of then instead having people not be allowed to progress at all isn’t want we are wanting. We want strict mode to work properly (the exact way it does now when automatic course completion is off) where users can go through a whole course, try all the quizzes, but only once everything is passed Will it complete.

It’s really, really concerning that you’re not understanding your own plugin logic.

    Can you please answer:

    – Why does Strict mode prevent users competing a course if a quiz has failed when automatic course complete is off, but not when it is on?

This absolutely is a bug. Is there an ETA on a fix? We can’t have courses auto complete when a user has failed a quiz. We also use Strict Mode. We want to keep the auto complete option since it adds an unnecessary steps that confuses most users.

    Hello @chelseacarson08

We will fixed it as soon as possible.

Just found this thread. Yes, I am facing this issue also.

I really hope tutor LMS can clearly define the strict mode and flexibile.

Strict mode = must pass quiz assignments and lessons otherwise it is incomplete. Is like failing the whole course, the students still gets the certificate, it doesn’t make sense.

Hope this is going to be resolved soon.

    Hello @lwhwill,

Thank you for contacting Themeum support. I hope you are doing well.

Please keep a full backup of your site then update your version of Tutor LMS to the latest build. Strict mode was resolved months ago. If you are using a custom theme that uses a customized version of Tutor LMS then you need to reach out to your custom theme author to report this.

Simply not true. I’m running the latest version and same issue. Stop posting fake answers/resolutions. We need this fixed!

    Hello @revolvermag,

Can you share your website url. Which theme is active now?

If you’d like us to take a closer look, you can write to https://www.themeum.com/support/. Thanks

TutorStarter. I suggest you go and test before making such claims. As chelsea mentioned, “strict mode and auto complete mode are not compatible yet they can be turned on at the same time. This is therefore an error.” A failed quiz should not auto complete the course and provide a certificate. This is stupid.
