    Hi, Jeff.

What, exactly, does the plugin do when you select Enable strict reporting of feed statistics?

I’m pretty sure I have more than one RSS subscriber, but when I enable this setting, I only ever see 1. Whereas, if I turn it off, I see about 18.

    Hi Chris,

When enabled, that setting attempts to count only unique feed visits. It’s not perfect though, and tends to under-represent actual unique hits. If in doubt, just leave it off and use the default functionality. Note: there is more info about this setting if you hover cursor over the question mark “?” icon.

I hope this helps, let me know if I can provide any further information.

Thanks, Jeff. I think I’ll leave it off. I had read that tool tip, too.

Appreciate you creating this plugin. It’s the only one I’ve found that gives me RSS stats without needing a third-party service.

    Cheers!

Just had a thought: The issue I had above with strict reporting wouldn’t be related to the fact that I’ve disabled IP-address collection, would it?

I’m sure strict reporting has worked for me when I’ve used this plugin on other sites in the past, but I think this is the first time I’ve disabled IP-address collection.

It might have something to do with it, depending on how the IP-disabling is happening, what it is affecting, and so forth. You would need to do some investigating to find out for sure.

I did a test today. I turned Enable strict reporting of feed statistics on and Disable collection of all IP address data off. That (preventing IP collection) definitely seems to have been the issue. I’m getting what I think is a fairly accurate subscriber count now, instead of just “1”.

If it’s possible, you might want to reopen my other thread, “What happens if I disable IP collection?” and add a final post to say that this is one effect that the Disable collection of all IP address data setting will have.

Ok glad you got it sorted. Hopefully anyone searching for similar information will find the other topic as well. I wish I could unlock the other thread but alas I am not able/authorized to do so. In any case, thanks for reporting back on your findings. Cheers @chrislt.
