• Hi!

I make a lot of themes every year for differnet companies. Most are in swedish, some have english as well. At the moment I’m trying to create a theme to use as base for all future themes.

I’m stuck with one question. Should I have my strings in the theme in Swedish or English? It makes more sense (perhaps) to use English since other plugins use English but it’s a real nutbreaker that I have to translate all strings for sites that don’t have English language.

I use WPML. With strings I mean:
    __(‘a-string-in-some-lang’, ‘theme-name’)

Anybody has any ideas? I’m guessing a lot of developers from non-english speaking countries have had issues with this.

The best thing you are already doing. By using the translation function you are taking the right step. If you are able to create mo/pot files is another way once you have those functions. ??
