    Hi,

I’m using WooCommerce Stripe Gateway and used to use Stripe Checkout with the “Enable the legacy checkout experience” option enabled, which allowed us to save users’ card information even on their first purchase.

However, after disabling the “Enable the legacy checkout experience” option, I noticed that the “Save payment information in my account for future purchases” checkbox no longer appears when users visit my site for the first time or are not logged in.

Is there any way to solve this issue or an alternative option to allow first-time users to save their payment details?

    Our test site is here:

(Could you go from the pink banner through the product page to the checkout page?)

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Best,

    Hi @rssscomplex ,

I totally get how frustrating this change can be, especially when you’ve built your process around the convenience of saving payment details for first-time buyers.

With the updated Stripe Checkout experience, the way payment information is handled has changed. Now, saving card details is only available for customers who are logged in. This update is in line with current security standards and PCI compliance requirements, which is why the “Save payment information for future purchases” option won’t be visible for guest checkouts.

You can read more about this change here: https://woocommerce.com/document/stripe/customer-experience/saved-payment-information/#checkout

I know this isn’t the outcome you were hoping for, so here are a couple of options you might consider:

    1. Encourage Account Creation: Prompting your first-time buyers to create an account will allow them to save their payment information for future purchases.
    2. Revisit the Legacy Checkout Experience: If saving payment details for guest users is a must for your workflow, you could opt to re-enable the legacy checkout. Just be aware that while it includes the features you need, it may not offer the latest security updates and performance improvements.

I hope this clears things up a bit

I understand. I wanted to confirm whether it was possible due to the plugin’s specifications or not, and your answer clarified that perfectly. It was really helpful—thank you so much!
