    Hi

We are having trouble with the images being uploaded on our website. We noticed that the Alt text and other metadata were stripped. Does your application do this?

    Hello @jojojona,

Can you please give us a bit more details about this? With the default settings, our plugin optimizes the newly uploaded images immediately after being uploaded. This means there is a high chance that the ALT tags were added after the images were already processed.

It would help a lot if you could send us step-by-step instructions to reproduce the issue you are mentioning, so we can check it on our test environments. How do you upload the images, where do you update the ALT tag and what other metadata was stripped?

Thanks, I look forward to getting more details about this!

    Hello!

The metadata is added in Lightroom and/or Photoshop. As soon as a photo is uploaded to WordPress, the keywords, description, and title are missing. Please see attached.

Is this a problem? If so, how do we solve this?

    Hi jojojona,

Could you please open a new thread for every new issue? We’d like to keep things organized ??

Coming back to the metadata problem, can you please try to reproduce the issue with our plugin deactivated? Does it still happen?

    Thank you,

    Hi @sixaxis

We already tried deactivating the plugin, but the alt text is still missing.

    Thank you.

any update on this issue? alt text, description, etc. were added before being uploaded to WP.

@jojojona, just to be clear, if you deactivate the plugin and then upload the image, the metadata is kept? I’m just trying to see what the upload behaviour is with and without the plugin.

Even better, could you please send us a couple of images with metadata embedded so we can make some tests?

    Thank you,

    Hello @sixaxis

The metadata is still not there. Do I send the photos here using the image block?

If you uploaded such an image, with the metadata from Lightroom/Photoshop, while our plugin was deactivated and it was NOT visible in WordPress, it means WordPress itself is either removing it, or simply doesn’t map that data to the desired fields attached to the image in the WordPress Media Library.

If I understood correctly, the metadata you are referring to is most likely stored in the EXIF data that is embedded in the image. Can you please confirm that you have unchecked the option “Remove the EXIF tag of the image (recommended).”, which comes enabled by default with our plugin?

    Thanks

    hello @jojojona,

I’d like to follow up on this and ask if the metadata you were describing gets removed with our plugin inactive. Or, if it’s active, ensure the “Remove the EXIF tag” is unchecked in the plugin options.

Thanks, I look forward to getting your confirmation about this!

    (@diannesison)

    Hi @petredobrescu,
Yes, EXIF is unchecked and yes, @jojojona already tried turning off the plugin, but the issue is still there.

    (@sixaxis)

sdianne, if you and jojojona turned off the plugin, uploaded an image (with the plugin turned off), and the issue is still there, it means that this is unrelated to our plugin, because the same is happening whether our plugin is on or off.

Let me know if you have any questions!
