Struggling to upgrade 3.9 to 4.2

    Hi – is someone able to help me troubleshoot why I cannot upgrade from 3.9 to 4.2?

    When I update I can no longer access the Dashboard via example.com/wp-admin/ – it gives me a “too many redirects” error. I have tried all the usual troubleshooting for this, including using a “default” htaccess file but it seems the only way to get to the dashboard now is to go to /wp-admin/index.php

    This works initially, but as soon as I upgrade the database the whole site is brought down.

    It starts with a fatal (?) error and an email to my inbox with the following error message:

    Only way to resolve at the moment is to roll back to WC 3. Would appreciate any help, any suggestions on where I should be looking to troubleshoot this.

    Hi there,

    but it seems the only way to get to the dashboard now is to go to /wp-admin/index.php

    Based on /index.php and your error message I think this looks like a path / URL rewrite or permalink problem.

    This can also happen if your custom permalink structure adds .php >> Go to Settings >> Permalink and make sure that index.php is not set in your custom structure.
