I have dug and dug around to try to figure why all of a sudden a Permalink I was using now throwing “File not found (404 error)
If you think what you’re looking for should be here, please contact the site owner.” I am using Permalink Manager Lite plugin.

This has me stumped as my other links work just fine.
If it helps any anything using webaddress.com/shows/name throws this error. So basically anything past “Shows” webaddress.com/shows/ you get this error regardless if I try to change the name.

Any tips/help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Josh

    Hi @joshuanapper,

It looks like the problem is either in server config or .htaccess rules. Could you send me the contents of .htaccess file (you can find it in main directory where WordPress is hosted)?

It is also possible that there is /shows/ directory present in the main WP directory. If so, the .htaccess rewrite rules will not apply to URLs that starts with /shows/.

To be 100% sure, could you temp. deactivate my plugin and try to access any URL that contains /shows/ base?

    Best regards,
    Maciej

I deactivated both my cache and your plugin and tried in a browser that was incognito. No luck. (given I did it right, and I think I did).

As for the /Shows/, I do have a page titled .com/shows/ the thought was to extend from there so like shows/stormtrackers. or shows/intothestorm. I have had it this setup for over year now with no issues. maybe I’m missing something.

If you need a login let me know. I have tried almost everything I could think of.

    Thanks,
    Josh

    Hey Maciej,

So I figured it out on my end! For some really weird reason, there was a folder on the server as if you would manually add an HTML page into if doing a project that was named shows. So I had a page on my site named shows/stormtrackers but also on the server was a folder named shows/. Thus the server was trying to pull from that folder but couldn’t find any page file (if that makes sense). And now that I think about it, the 404 error was different than why my site typically shows for a 404. So definitely was a server/user weird error on my end!!

    Thank you so much again!

    Hi Josh,

No problem ?? That is what I initially thought:

It is also possible that there is /shows/ directory present in the main WP directory. If so, the .htaccess rewrite rules will not apply to URLs that starts with /shows/.

    Best regards,
    Maciej
