    Hi webclinic,

    Thank you for reaching out.
You need to contact your hosting provider to increase the number of allowed connections to the database.

    Hello,

I just tried to import a wp installation which I exportet only minutes ago from another site. But after choosing the respective file all-in-one WP Migration comes up with this message:

Version 2.1.1 of All in One WP Migration introduces new compression algorithm. It makes exporting and importing 10 times faster.
Unfortunately, the new format is not back compatible with backups made with earlier versions of the plugin.
You can either create a new backup with the latest version of the plugin, or convert the archive to the new format using our tools here.

I just installed the plug-ins of WP Migration, so they should be of the same version. Following to the tools link in the message leads me to nowhere.

What can I do to use your really helpful plug-in which has been functioning very good in the past?

    Regards,
    Klaus

I have found the solution by myself in the meantime.
When downloading the exported file my Kaspersky Antivirus showed a short message which I could hardly read nor understand. But it left the *.wpress file with the extension *.wpress.part

I did not check the file extension when I tried to import the file.
But the attempt to import the corrupted file lead to the above error message.

I deactivated KAV temporarily and the file could be saved completely.
No hassle to import this file.

Thanks a lot anyway and have a nice day,
    Klaus

    This is very useful, Klaus.
Thank you so much for sharing and we are glad you were able to migrate your site successfully.

    Best,

    Hi,
I am trying to move several wp sites to a new host (away from godaddy) – I have the same issue with the import freezing at 4% – I have also tried uploading the backup to the wp-content/ai1wm-backups directory and tried loading it as a backup but this gets stuck at unpacking archive…
    Any thoughts.
    Thanks, Tom

    Hi Tom,

I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Are you using the latest version of the plugin?
If yes, do you mind reaching out to me at support at servmask.com so that I can send you a release candidate to try out?

    Hi,
Some weeks ago I exported my localhost site via All-in-One WP Migration and imported it to the one of my provider. Everything worked smoothly. Thanks a lot!

Today I decided to export the live version and to import it to localhost as I want to do some testing offline. Export was a breeze – as usual. When importing it to localhost, I ran into problems, though. Here are my steps:
    1) All-in-One WP Migration update to version 4.13
    2) Import of backup file:
    a) Importing backup => 100% successful
    b) Restoring of all files => 100% successful
    c) Restoring database => stuck (The wheel keeps turning but nothing happens.)

Reading moepsen’s post, I deactivated Avira AntiVirus and started all over but to no avail.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Hi Marian,

I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Have you tried the following steps?

    1. While on restoring database, leave it running for 15 minutes.
    2. After 15 minutes, open another tab and try to login to wp-admin with WP Admin username/password of the exported site
    3. Go to settings -> permalinks and save the permalink structure
At this point the website should be successfully migrated.

    Best,
    Pim

    Hi Pim,

I did what you suggested above and it did work. If we were using MySql 5.6 instead of MySql 5.5 would the problem go away?

We move a lot of sites and would prefer to just have the migration work.

We use backup buddy but really your solution is much better so we are hoping to switch.

    Hi raveon,

    Thank you for reaching out.
I am afraid that will not help.
Usually “Restoring database” happens when max_execution_time, memory_limit and MySQL connection time are very low.

    Hi Pim,
Thanks for your speedy response. I did not receive a notification therefore I just checked for new entries an hour ago.

I did what you suggested but ran into a problem. After opening a new tab, I tried to login to wp-admin with WP Admin. But instead of ending up at wp-admin, I was redirected to wp-admin/install. So, I gave it a chance and installed the same localhost-site once again. After completion, I tried to restore my backup but the process ended exactly as described in my last post.

    Any suggestions?

    Best, Marian

My import process got stuck at ‘Restoring Database’ too.

I left it running for over 15 minutes per the instructions and opened a new tab.

I found that I was already logged in. The site was properly styled, had the correct theme and site logo etc but none of my posts, pages or custom menu were present.

Is there a way to manually or otherwise import these from the .wpress file? The backup I made of my original site has become corrupted so I’m pretty desperate to find a way to get posts and pages etc from the .wpress file.

Pim, I read else where that you offer to convert .wpress files into .zips via dropbox. Would this help me?

    Thanks, Matthew

I realised that my wp-config file had the wrong database details. I corrected those and the site seems fine now.

    Hi wpMarian,

It looks like the database is corrupted.
Do you mind reaching out to me at support at servmask.com, so I can have an engineer take a look further?

    Thank you!
