• I’m totally green, not completely inept but here I am stuck on installation. I uploaded the WP files to the Arvixe file manager but when I try to access the admin page I get this error code:

HTTP Error 404.0 – Not Found
The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

    The page is https://www.SusanBrackettDesigns.com

What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

  • This is what I see..

This site is currently under construction and we will have more for you soon.

    For This Site’s Owners:
Please check account setup confirmation e-mail for instructions

You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

I’m not 100% certain and wish that I could direct you in the right direction. Im certain you may have thought of this but have you tried contacting your hosting personnel?

I’m not certain how far in the game you are at the moment and whether or not you are bound to your hosting service but godaddy offers a ‘one-click’ install for the wordpress platform. Good thing about that is, if you run into a slight kink as I have, you can call godaddy and they’ll get you out of it.

For what its worth. I really wish I could help you more…trust me….I KNOW!!! how frustrating it can be to need a life ring and no one is to be found.

Just uploading the WordPress files to your site’s file manager will not install WordPress. WordPress needs a database, which you or your host must create, and you have to enter the database info into the wp-config.php file.

Did you read “WordPress for Beginners” (https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Getting_Started_with_WordPress)

Does your host, Arvixe, have a “One Click” install WordPress, as for a beginner, this would be the easiest way to install WordPress?

    Stay away from Arvixe.

    Look on https://status.arvixe.com/

There is a disruption of estimated 4 hours from 11:04 EST on 12/19/15.

Are you uploading files from local server to online hosting? If yes, you need to change the urls then it will workout.

    Hi,

First, I’d make sure that all index.html files are removed as some hosting companies like to put those in or their control panels. Second, sounds like maybe the permissions aren’t set correctly for php to be executed right. Please check those. Please see;https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_File_Permissions

If your host provides you with logs, check the error log. I can help you, free, one on one to possibly get this working right. Skype me Ajer2009.
