When I click the StumbleUpon button, the Add a Page window pops up. Once the fields are completed and submit is clicked, the following error message is given: A”dd a Page Error
We were unable to process this addition. This may be due to a temporary outage.”

However, StumbleUpon isn’t experiencing an outage. If I go to my stumbler profile and click the Add Page button, I get the same Add a Page window popping up, but here when I click submit, the page adds just fine.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

It’s been over a week now. No reply from support. Visitors still cannot share pages via StumbleUpon. When the StumbleUpon button in super socializer is clicked, users still receive the error message that StumbleUpon is having an outage.

How do we resolve this issue?

    Hi there,

Sorry for the late reply. We are still unable to identify the cause of the issue. We can’t see any problem with the code of the Stumbleupon badge button in the plugin and it is as per the guidelines of StumbleUpon. We are looking into for the possible reasons.

Through experimentation and investigation, I have determined what the issue is. The issue with StumbleUpon sharing lies with URL shorteners. If you enable the built-in wp.me short links or set up bit.ly short links, you’ll get the Add Page Error when you try to share to StumbleUpon. If you disable short links, then the StumbleUpon button/badge will share pages just fine. Unfortunately, this means you cannot use short links for any social sharing. I don’t know if there is a way to allow users to choose which social media sharing options they want short links used with.

This is definitely something related to how Stumbleupon sharer handles the short urls. We will make changes in the plugin if anything can be done at plugin level.
