• Must be doin’ something wrong, since the footer is misaligned.
Why the h*** does it do that ? What have I missed ?
It’s supposed to be 700px wide, yet if I set it to 700px it slides to the right and if I set it to 100% it is squeazed…
Does anyone have an idea ?

  • I am really sorry guys but this won’t do. Alan as far as I can see has no footer at all. And both Alan and bambam have menus which are positioned using position: absolute.

I don’t have a footer? That’s interesting….I don’t know why I added that darn image to my credit class that closed my rounded corner background. ??
And yes, I do have some divs absolutely positioned to its parent div.
My layout pretty much uses the the original index template….I added some features but the only adjustment I made was to move the credits inside the “rap”.

Nah, I don’t think that’s where the trouble is. If i define the background in the #rap instead of body, I bet that you would’nt be able to read what I posted…

Well Alan I may have missed your footer. When I saw you had removed the powered by WordPress credit I may have overlooked it. But you have also adjusted your comments in a clever way so they are called on a page without the menu. Clever design no doubt but it does not reproduce the issue that koads has. It only side steps it albeit in a sophisticated way. Damn fine blog incidentally.
    Particularly the pussy cat ??

Koad’s approach is different. And TBH, I’ve never been successful positioning everything on a background defined in the body tag. In my layout I originally tried to define the background that way and found I had better luck defining it to the rap div. If Koad decided to do it that way he would have to redo the images and may even need to get rid of the textured background. There’s nothing really slick about my comment page. I just switch the style sheet to display only the content div which is define a little bit wider and positioned over the center of the rap background. To keep the “semantic” spirit I load a common stylesheet that’s used for all pages and swap the necessary styles for the particular page with the relevant stylesheet.
I still have WordPress displayed as Meta.

It looks like he has pretty much the same layout your site has….his CSS might be worth looking at.

Yes it does. That blog uses my Gemini template.

And, um, it does look sort of similar because I pinched Luma’s horizontal menu css and background gif (which I lightened up a bit). And yes, I use Root’s Gemini template too.

Yes, the <center> is kind of unusual these days, but back in the days when i started – heck, we used it all the time. I just put it in there to see if it helped in any way. And needless to say, it didn’t. And yes the total sum is 706, and I found that those flashes of moments when it seems to work, i had the width at 694…
But I seem to have found the problem, It’s the #content. That 0.8em on the left side pushes it all 0.8em to the right…
1 step done, now comes another…

Sorry. That footer is still way out of line. Have you considered using the Gemini template.? No CSS positioning needed and no mess. Guaranteed. ??

Yep, still messy, but i found where the problem was. no solution though. had to get some sleep. I’m gonna check the Gemini out. Thanks…

It’s hopefully done. And all it needed was to close a meta tag in the loop. It will of course fuck up in a couple of days, but that’s then. Not now. Now i will get me some sleep…
    Thanks for all your help…

    Looks great, Koads.

Well I just hope the CSS positioning is going to hold up when the menu goes in but I fear the worst.

Well that is going to be very cool and no need to worry. Just wondering where your blog roll is going but its your design. Good luck and nice work.
