To replace html-site with WP?

    I have a friends website that is done in HTML. So it’s in a webhotel and there’s a database in the package.
    I have promised to make it a WP-site.
    Can I just use Installatron and install a WP in the webhotel and start doing a new site…`?
    Or do I build the site somewhere else and upload it throught ftp (but isn’t it kinda the same thing..?)
    I know, a very stupid question and I have done something like this before but a) can’t remember how and b) my IT-mentorguru died and I can’t consult him.. :/
