  • This is the second issue like this that has cropped up. (Zephyr is the other poster: https://www.ads-software.com/support/3/14276).
    Have you upgraded recently ?
Who do you host with ?
This was sorted by taking a complete database backup, a backup of the site files / folders, then deleting the lot. Everything.
WP was then installed (from a fresh zip), the database was restored, and then any changes that had been made were put back by modifying new files, not by uploading old files.
I think it’s because an uploaded new file may not have correctly overwritten an old file, but that’s a wild guess.

I upgrade the WP just a couple hours ago. I’ve deleted all “old” files previosly, then run upgrade.phpunpack new tarball, then run upgrade.php

    I host with myself ??
    Apache 1.3.28/php 4.3.8/MySQL 3.2x

Did you keep any files at all from the ‘old’ install ?

no. I delete all of them.

Are you using any styleswitcher ?
What plugins do you use ?

    (@aim1159)

Only “Search Hilite” plugin is active on my blog.
I don’t use any style switcher and I don’t use any styles, only default one.

I had some test and found that it might be a login issue – if I go to my website and log in – than my style goes ok.
If only my _admin_ login expire – I got style damaged. :-/
Also – I need to go to “log in” page directly.
In case i’m goin to login page from the damaged site I’m redirectig to “https://aim.pp.ru/blog/wp-login.php?redirect_to=/blog/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-admin/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-admin/wp-images/smilies/wp-login.php”> and entering _right_ login/pwd i got this message: “The requested URL /blog/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-admin/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-images/smilies/wp-admin/wp-login.php was not found on this server.” (that is true actually).
may be this info will help to resolve the issue.

I must repeat that i need to login to admin in order everybody (not just me – i’ve tested this on the machine in the other network and not logged in) could see the design.

I had the same issue a few weeks ago. It popped up when I upgraded to 1.3 alpha. I downgraded back to 1.2, deleting all my wordpress files first, and the problem went away. When I upgraded to 1.2.1, the redirect/wp-smilies issue returned.
Like Aim1159, the problem shows itself to *everybody* until the adminstrator successfully logs in. Users, when they try to comment are redirected to a login page instead.
Podz here took my files and installed them on his server, but the problem never showed itself there.
I changed hosts to https://www.blogs-about.com from Godaddy.com. I wasn’t sure that would actually fix the problem, but at Blogs-about theyare familiar with WordPress. GoDaddy doesn’t have any idea. Since I switched and upgraded to 1.2.1, the problem hasn’t returned.

Hm… It seems to more that it’s more likely the login functionality issue since the login functionality is the only part backported from WP 1.3 to WP 1.2.1 as I know.
    Devs, any comments?
