• Hey folks,
I discovered wp yesterday and I’m giving it a spin on my local machine (win2k/apache). I went to Alex King’s site and got some stuff. When I tried out the style-switcher plug-in I could not get the styles to switch. I emailed him and if I understood him correctly the setcookie function probably needs to be modified since the domain is not recognized. I’m reading up on it but I’m not a programmer. If anyone knows the solution I’m all ears.
    Thanks!

  • Have you checked your file paths ?
Do you get one page with a style and then the other without ?

also, instead of localhost, try 127.0.0.1

    To Podz:
Whatever style I choose to put into wp_style_switcher.php as the default …
$wp_style_default = 'stylesheet_ folder_ name'; I am able to see. I just cannot change them through the sidebar plug-in. As I mentioned Alex seems to think that it is a cookie issue.
    To 2fargon:
I tried the changes and it gave me errors. I could have input something incorrectly …

I did try 127.0.0.1 when pointing to the page. I’ve not run into this issue when playing around with other php/mysql packages so I’m a bit confused. I would think that most folks try things out on their local machines before using them on another server. I’ve been reading some comments under the setcookie listing on PHP.net. One fellow suggests that since the domain field has to have at least one dot (.) in it one solution is to change the “Primary DNS Suffix of This Computer” setting. Any thoughts?

since you are just switching between using different css files.. if i wanted to, i would be able to change the background n stuff right?

You can change anything, yes, anything and everything.

I’ve never been able to get this to work on localhost or 127. Not sure why but the cookie jsut would not set no matter what did. Once I uploaded it to the live site, it was OK though.
