• With the new block editor for widgets in WordPress, I have noticed that some of the widgets do not appear as blocks that can be used (legacy widgets). One of those is the Product Categories widget. When using this widget Kadence applies some css styles that make the list look much better.

However, now with the block editor the replacement widget is the Product Categories List, however Kadence does not apply a lot (in any) styling to it. It is just a fairly plain list.

Are there any plans to update the styles of this new widget so it looks more like the legacy one?

    Cheers!

  • Hey, thanks for reaching out! Apologies for the delay in response.

If you can please share a link to your site where you’ve setup this block, I’ll be happy to provide you with some CSS that will get the styling to match the old styling.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for getting back to me. What I ended up doing is disabling the new Widgets Blocks using ‘remove_theme_support( ‘widgets-block-editor’ );’ in a snippet, then I was able to get to the classic widget area to add the older Product Categories widget.

Perhaps this is something you guys can add to the road map for a future release (to apply some styles to the widget). Of course I could add my own styles to it, but it the theme is to apply styles to in a future update, then those styles may conflict. So for now I will just use the older widget.

    Cheers
