styling <?php wp_list_cats ?>

I am working on a template here and have come across a small but frustrating problem. Im not sure, but I am thinking wp_list_cat has styles somewhere besides the style.css file.

For some reason I am getting a large upper margin above wp_list_cats, and the reason I am thinking its some other source causeing the problem is because I have tryed inserting other links, codes in the area that I am adding the above and there are no problems.

If I am right, will someone dorect me to the file where I can change the styles for wp_list_cat? Thank you!
