Styling Search Function

  • Hi,

    Thanks for a great plugin – I’ve really been learning a lot by using it.

    I wanted to ask whether there was a way of changing the text of the submit button for the clear function. I’d like to change it to Back or Delete. Also, do these two submit buttons need to be there at all as if you have the field filled in and hit enter it searches anyway?

    Also, one more thing, is it possible to have the dropdown search function be redirected to another url? So, no matter what you search for you are redirected to a login page, for example?

    Changing the name of the “Clear” button is not particularly easy because it won’t be recognized by the form if it has a different value. The only way to do this is to alter the translation file. Check this article I just wrote for instructions:

    It is possible to eliminate the “search” submit button, it will take some understanding of how HTML forms work because even though the form will submit with a return, the submit button value is needed so the plugin knows whether it’s a “search” submission or a “clear” submission.
