Sub Category Templates or If than statement….

What I want to do:

For my main category pages, I want the category title to show up.

For the sub category page, I don’t want to have a category title (because there will only be one post on each sub category.

How does that work with the hierarchy of categories?

As I wrote this, my guess was to make a category-(subcategory).php page and that should fix it. Is that right?

Or how would I write an “if then” statement to filter to make this effect happen with the archive template so I don’t have to create another template?
