Sub domains only allowed

  • Hi, when we go to add a new site in Network, we can only set it as a subdomain.

    However, we want to have it as a directory instead. Eg. /newsite rather than newsite.domain.com

    How can you change this setting?

    Or if the setting cannot be changed, can you remove the MU installation and re-do the process?

  • Go open up the wp-config.php file.

    Look for the line that says SUBDOMAIN ‘true’.
    Change it to false.

    Go back to Tools -> Network. There will be new htaccess rules. replace them.

    And finally, now that you are in subfolder, the main blog will have /blog/ stuffed in the permalinks.
