    Hello

I Set “Show subcategories” to “Category display”
Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Catalog

I have added products to the categories. the categories are not empty.

when I click onto the main parent category it just displays all of the products.

  • This setting changes what is displayed on the main category page.

In my local testing, if I set the value to “Category display” the main category page does show me a list of sub-categories if the main category has any.

If the main category does not have any subcategories it shows me products instead, which I think is the expected behavior.

So just to confirm can you check that from wherever you clicking on the main parent category, it actually takes you to the parent category page?

Some widgets may apply a filter for the category instead of redirecting you to the parent category page. The category page may look like /product-category/category-name, although could change depending upon configuration.

    Hey @hopefulness,

When setting Subcategories to display from Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Catalog on a test site I own when viewing the main parent category only the sub categories within that parent category are displaying.

The results of this testing indicates that the functionality of the WooCommerce plugin itself is working correctly.

From what you have described, it could be code from another plugin or theme which has caused a possible conflict and affected the functionality of WooCommerce.

To see if that is the case we’d suggest carrying out a conflict test on your site by disabling all other plugins aside from WooCommerce along with switching to a theme like Storefront. This will help with trying to and locate what software you have installed which could possibly be causing this behaviour? You could use a free plugin called Health Check and Troubleshooting to carry out such testing.

When in Troubleshooting mode all plugins will be deactivated and only the admin of the site carrying out the troubleshooting would see those changes. Any customers visiting the site would see no changes at all.

Once you have disabled all other plugins and switched themes if the behaviour is resolved you can then enabled your theme and sites plugins testing after each one is enabled until the behaviour returns to locate the culprit.

    Hello
    With thanks for your attention

    I did a conflict test.
I deactivated all plugins except WooCommerce. the conflict no longer exists.
It means that the plugins I deactivated were causing the conflict.

Then, I activated plugins one by one.
The problem occurred again when I active YITH WooCommerce AJAX Product Filter plugin.

    Hey @hopefulness,

Then, I activated plugins one by one.
The problem occurred again when I active YITH WooCommerce AJAX Product Filter plugin.

I’m glad to hear you managed to identify which plugin is causing the problem on your site by running the conflict test.

As a next step, I would recommend contacting YITH directly to discuss the issue so that you can continue using their extension. Looking online I found the following link that will hopefully point you in the right direction: https://yithemes.com/my-account/support/submit-a-ticket/
