okay, I have a multisite installation on citlchurches.info

I have parked citlchurches.org at my server

I have installed the domain mapping plugin and thik i have it installed correctly.

    I have subdomains – clc.citlchurches.info and store.citlchurches.info

I need them to also come up when i type in clc.citlchurches.org and store.citlchurches.org

When i type in the .org addresses, nothing comes up.

in each of the sites, i added the appropriate .org domain in the tools>domain mapping area.

Do you own both the .info and .org domains? You need to make sure both are parked with your hosting server.

Are you using the domain mapping plugin…what you want to do will not work with a straight multisite install…because you are using domains, not just subdomains.

IF you do own both domains, make sure one is primary.
    1. go to the domain mapping portion of mu install
    2. clc.citlchurches.org should be added here as the primary domain pointing to the correct site id.
    3. create another domain mapping record clc.citlchurches.info and set it as a secondary domain record, pointing to the same site id.

    I own both domains.

.info is the main account in cpanel
    .org is parked there

i changed the .org to be the primary and neither site worked.
i changed the .info back to be the primary and now at least the .info works…

are you using an A-record with your host company? Pointing that A-record to an IP address? Both domains need to have an A-record with your ip address.

Every hosting company is different…thats how I handled mine.

Also, upfront, I am by no means an expert at this. Its just really fresh in my memory. I have been working with it this past week and will end up having 30 different domains all using the same wordpress install.

Pretty cool once you figure it out…

both domains have A records pointing to the same IP.

I may just nix the .info and make the .org the main address..

In case anyone else runs across this problem I might be able to offer some tips. I did this using WordPress 3.1.1

I had a whale of a time getting it to work but I now have https://gottmilk.igottcha.com/ mapped to https://gottmilk.g0tt.info/ , it’s working and it’s configured with the MU Domain Mapping plugin.

    Cheers!

P.S. Since Andrea_r is in this thread also (she’s everywhere) I’ll give her another thanks for tickling my synaptic reflexes just the right way so I could find the answer to the problem I was having with this.
