• I am working on a blog hosting site. I want people to go to the home-page.com, log in or fill out a registration form, and basically assign a username they select as a subdomain username.home-page.com etc (adding regular domains will be another thing that I will be working on in the future).

I just installed WordPress Multisite, and as of right now I have a choice between

    a) subdomain installation
    b) subfolder installation (I prefer this one, I heard it is better etc)

Which option should I chose for what I am trying to do (what will be the easier path down the road, with everything else etc…)

    Thank you.

  • you should use subdomain installation and add the * wildcard to your DNS settings.
If you use cPanel, you can create a subdomain *.domain.com and it will work.
You can use WHMCS and Domain Mapping Plugin to allow users to register their own domain name (like WordPress.com does).
