I have a main domain, and 2 subdomains. For the moment, one subdomain (Subdomain A) will host a blog, and possibly more than one. I would like the other domain (and any others I create in the future) to be able to host blogs as well. Can this be handled by installing WP in the main domain’s public_html folder? Instead of having all the WP files scattered about, can it be put in it’s own folder?

Since the wp.config.php file needs to be changed with specific info using the title of the blog for each subdomain, this makes me think that a separate install of WP is necessary for EACH subdomain, even though I only have one public_html folder for the main domain.

I am confused as to the best procedure to follow. A non-technical instruction would be greatly appreciated!

Indeed, you’ll want separate installs. They can all be in the same database (just use a different Prefix in each wp-config.php) or each have their own.

Check out Installing_Multiple_Blogs in the docs section for more information.
