• can i create subdomains with different themes

    say

    london.domain.com
    newyork.domain.com
    tokyo.domain.com

but have just 1 wordpress installation

or multiple wordpress installations but using the same database, so say someone signs up for one of them they can use their username and password in all of them?

but i’d like each subdomain to have it’s own “look” and relevant content for that subdomain?

  • Hi, @johnzoro. You can have multiple subdomains using a single installation by Creating a network using WordPress’s multisite feature.

But when someone registers, they would just become a member of the network itself, they wouldn’t have any assigned roles for the sites within that network; an administrator would have to add them (and designate their specific role) to each site individually.

But there are also plugins which could help you to automate the process, like Multisite User Management.
