Subdomains versus Subdirectories
-
Hello all,
I trust you are doing well.
As a newbie to WordPress MU who is planning to offer hosted WP installations to clients, I am curious which installation option (subdomains or subdirectories) will best support clients being able to ultimately have a top level domain for their blog installation?
For example, I would like to be able to host and maintain any number of WPMU blogs for clients with them being able to choose their preferred top level domain for their blog.

https://scamsunlimited.com
https://etc., etc. etc.Of, course I realize there is also the option of clients having a top level domain re-directed to a WPMY subdomain or subdirectory on the hosted installation, so I am seeking the best option from a scalability and administrative overhead perspective.
Which approach (subdomains or subdirectories) minimizes potential issues (config, security per client, etc.) and the related timesinks and why?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
