Subfolder with long url
-
A client asked me to build them a new website. The old website is in WordPress, and the url is: https://www.silverpineslodge.com
I asked the person who is hosting the site with their GoDaddy account to install wordpress in a subfolder, which would be: https://www.silverpineslodge.com/SPL. They did that, but the url actually turns out to be: https://obviousmoosehosting.com/chrissinger/silverpineslodge/SPL/
They gave me FTP login info, which goes to https://ftp.silverpineslodge.com/ and I can see the subfolder in there. But the long string URL shows up in all URLs and in the General Settings in the dashboard.
Since I was able to go in and work on the site, I did. But now I need to go live, and I’m not sure how to go about it. Usually, I move the index.php and .htaccess files into the root folder https://www.silverpineslodge.com/, and change the line in the index.php file to point to the subfolder. Any ideas how to work around the long url: https://obviousmoosehosting.com/chrissinger/silverpineslodge/SPL/?
