Submission taking long time to process

    I am trying to figure out why the form takes about a minute to process before sending. Once the message for the submission shows, it only takes a few seconds to show up in my inbox.

    The form is really simple, it has name, subject, e-mail, and message. The only other thing that I have on this form is there is a selection of different recipients. Is there some settings that I might have missed that is causing this to happen or is there something else that might be happening to the form on the server side of it.

    There was a problem at first with the form actually sending but it seems that it was a configuration problem on the hosting server. The long processing was happening before I found out about it not sending any e-mails out but now I need to get this resolved since I would believe that most people that would be waiting for the mail to process might just click on something else and we may not receive the message.

  • Hi jamkddr can you check the server log files. It might reveal some information about your current websites configuration. Is your website hosted in a shared account or a VPS? How much memory is allocated to your WordPress account?

    Not a shared account, so I was thinking that it might be a configuration issue. I need to check how much memory is actually allocated but I do have the config file setting the memory limit to 128M.

    I will check the server log files to see what is going on and get back to let you know.

    Okay thank you for reporting back. I will suggest to increase the memory if you can to 256M. WordPress, plugins and theme is resource hungry.

    It looks like it wasn’t a memory issue but a configuration one. It seems like the way that it was configured didn’t have the hostname added to hosts file.

    Once that was added, it sends almost instantaneously. It now takes less than 5 seconds from when I hit the submit button to when it arrives in my inbox.
