Submit button for form is not working – just spins

Good Day, I have experienced the same problem after I updated ContactForm7 from version 4.7 to 4.8. When a user completed the form and clicks on the submit button the data is not saved in the ContactForm DB, and the spinner animation is displayed until the page is refreshed.

I have checked the forums and found no solution to this problem. I am using WordPress 4.8 with a modified version of the Bootstrap 4 starter theme (https://simonpadbury.github.io/2015/12/12/Bootstrap-4-WordPress.html). Any help to resolve this problem is greatly appreciated.

We are using the latest version of WP. Updated the Form 7 from a much older version to 4.8 today. Same problem…just spins when you hit the submit button. ugh!

If the form works when you’re logged in, but not when you aren’t, you may be experiencing the issue with blocked anonymous REST API (by a security plugin).

If that is not the case, you probably have another issue, usually a conflict with another plugin or your theme.

If that is the case, there are lots of posts on here about the issue. What most seem to resort to is rolling back to version 4.7 of CF7.

We are on CF7 v 4.8 and have the same problem. On our site, it seems that the 2 checkboxes at the bottom are the culprit https://www.festivaria.eu/tickets/ which is strange, as the checkbox at the beginning of the form does not pose any issues.

When we remove them, we get the normal required fields check and after that we can send the form. With the 2 checkboxes, the spinning icons keeps loading.
When we move those 2 checkboxes before the last textarea, the form also works, but when we delete the textarea, it does not make any difference.

Revert to 4.7 or unblock your REST API, both solution will fix your issue.

Is the 4.7 only on SVN or can we download it elsewhere?
