• Hi,

I read elsewhere on this forum where users had a problem with this but it seems it is still unresolved. I’m referring to trying to create a new post and instead of being able to push the Publish button-there is none but instead a “Submit for review” button.

I am the admin of my wordpress, no one else uses it but me (i.e. no contributors). I have tried to create a new post a number of times and still no luck in receiving an email to review the post or anything. It just is never created. I’ve been having trouble with this for a few months now and would really like a solution.

So, does anyone have a solution?? (I can message my wordpress URL to a Moderator if that helps in solving this…)

  • Just to make sure, navigate to your wp-content folder in Filezilla and see if there is a folder called “mu-plugins” in there. If so, download it to your desktop (for back-up purposes) and delete it from your server. Then, try again.

If that doesn’t work, you can try reinstalling WordPress (as esmi is suggesting). To do that, try downloading the latest WordPress package. Then, unzip it and follow the instructions for Manual Update.

Thank You, esmi and Curtiss. I followed your instructions precisely (following the directions of the downloading the latest WordPress package and instructions for Manual Update. Made sure not to overwrite my wp-content folder, just the individual files inside of it. went smoothly.)

And after that, I still have the Submit for Review button.

Oh and I didn’t have that “mu-plugins” folder in my wp-content folder so no issue there.

Any more ideas? This has really got me stumped. :/

So, you have all of your plugins deactivated, and you have the site set to use the non-modified Twenty Ten theme, and you’re still only seeing the “Submit for Review” button? That’s really strange. I’m not sure what else could be causing an issue.

Yes, all plugins are deactivated and I am using the Twenty Ten 1.1 theme. WordPress version is 3.0.4. And I am logged in as admin.

    So no ideas? ??

Using PhpMyadmin (or another MySQL managament tool), first backup your database. Then navigate to your wp_usermeta table and locate the meta_key called “wp_capabilities” for your user_id. Change the meta-value for this record to:

    a:1:{s:13:"administrator";b:1;}

There is no need to change it-the capabilities is already set at that…

Is it possible for you to share a link to your website so we can take a better look at what’s going on? I’m not asking for usernames and passwords or anything, I just want to take a look at your home page.

    Sure – blog.paulabailey.net

    Thank You!

Hmm. I don’t see anything in the site that indicates anything would be wrong.

Can you try creating a new user and granting admin privileges to that new user? Then, login as that new user and see if the problem persists?

Thanks…it didn’t work. WordPress is being really buggy and strange…

What i did was, (logged in as admin) I went to Users > Add New. filled out the form to manually create a new user, making sure to set the role as Administrator. Done. Went to the Users panel. I see me, admin, with my role as Administrator. Then beneath that is supposedly this new user I created but the username I created for it doesn’t show (there is nothing there in that field in other words) in fact all the fields are blank. And although I checked the box to send an email to the new user (of course, using a different email than the admin’s email) I checked and no email was ever received at that email address.

I am willing to start from fresh even if it means losing my current blog (I could at least copy and paste the entry text into Word so I have my writings saved before loosing them on wordpress) but I wonder if that would even help. ???

If you are going to try an completely fresh re-install, you could export your current site’s content via Tools->export first. At least you wouldn’t lose all of your content that way.
