Just upgraded to version 3.1.6 and now when I submit the Forgot Password form, it displays the general registration copy: “Thank you for registering. Access to this page will be granted once we verify your information.” instead of the “Please check your email for instructions on resetting your password”. I’ve tested this across the latest versions of IE, Chrome and Firefox. TXENA.org/login/

    Hi 49er,

Did you happen to recently turn on the “Admin Approval of Users” or “Email Confirmation” options? What could happen is that, if you had created a user (or someone registered) before either of those options were on, and then you turn one of them on, then that user now won’t have access until you either approve them and/or verify their email address.

I actually turned off Email Confirmation when I noticed this starting to occur. Just now, I registered a test user and then approved them. With this new user account, I used the Forgot Password feature and it’s still giving me the “Thank you for registering” message on the site. I do, however, receive the correct Password Reset email successfully. How can I trigger that “Please check your email for instructions” message? Thx!

    Hi 49er,

We just ran a bunch of tests on our end and it always shows the correct message when we submit the form.

What’s the exact shortcode you’re using on your forgot password page?

The message should be: “For completing the password reset procedure, please follow the instructions in your email.”

If you look in the “Process_Front_End_Forms.php” file in the “Functions” folder, that is where the message is generated. Do you see that message in that file?

Do you happen to be using any translation plugin that might be affecting this string? Did you, by any chance, create or modify any of the existing translation files? What language do you have your WordPress site set to?
