• Hi

My site https://www.adelaideshutters.com.au/ I have a page named Shutter News which I use to put hints and tips on. I made that page my posts page and posted a post, I notice that the date shows up on google SERP on both the post page and the post which I don’t want as the information never or hardly ever changes.

If I were to make Shutter News the parent page and any hint or tip a subpage would this eliminate the dates showing? up as all my other pages do not show dates. As an example have it the same as under services on my site.

Lastly if I were to do this and name the subpage title the same as the post title and pasted all the post text onto the subpage and trashed the post would I have to do a 301 direct? and can I then delete the category that I created for that post?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Using pages instead of posts will eliminate the dates yes. You could also modify your template file to remove (or comment out) the <?php the_time(); ?> or <?php the_date(); ?> which will remove the date as well.

If you have all of the same information on the new page/subpage and the url remains the same then there would be no need for a 301, this would actually cause a redirect loop as the page would be trying to redirect to itself.

Categories are only used for posts and not for pages, so yes once you have moved the post to a page you could remove the unused category as well.
