you can try this code in a button you have placed there

where level 1 is your free level

Thanks Pete, but how can I use it with an email field? this button will only take the user to the page.
Is there a way user only enter his email in a widget field and press Subscribe now.?

Not that I know of..
to use the PMPro system, they need to sign up through it..

Maybe put the code for the signup itself to that level

yoursite.com/membership-checkout/?level=1

but this will give all required feilds as PMPro does need a password to get in with
