I’ve seen that this is a recurring topic, yet it hasn’t come up recently…. so here I am to post about it ??

I’m able to successfully use the mailchimp sign up form when I’m logged into WP, but if i’m not logged in, nothing happens when I click submit. the button state changes, but i don’t get the same confirmation message that I get when I’m logged in, and no email confirmation is sent to me.

Any suggestions on how I can resolve this?

    Thanks!

    Hi Kebo,

Thanks for hopping in the forum. To see what’s happening here, we will need a little more information. Can you send us a link to the site that has the plugin installed? Also just to clarify, are you receiving the ‘Success, you’ve been signed up!…’ message whether you’re signed into wordpress or not? Also have you tried signing up from another browser? This is just to make sure it’s not a local issue.

We look forward to hearing from you!

thanks for the info – the site where the form is live is: https://baytreewellnesscenter.com (in the sidebar)

I ONLY get the ‘Success, you’ve been signed up!…’ message when I’m signed into wordpress.

I have tried signing up from another browser – it only works in the logged into WP state in both chrome and FF.

    Thanks!

    Hi Kebo,

Thanks for writing back. I was able to test the form in a few different browsers and the form seems to be working well. When I submitted the email, it sent the confirmation email and the success message displayed. So there could be a local issue causing problems? Do you have any common browser extensions between chrome and firefox? It might be best to temporarily disable those. Also to double check that it’s not a local issue, can you try using the form from another computer on another network?

We look forward to hearing from you!

    mc_d,
I’m getting the same problem. We just discovered it this morning. The mailchimp signup in the sidebar works fine when logged in to wordpress, but behaves exactly as Kebo describes when logged out.

Our marketing manager, CEO, a customer and myself all tried this on their own computers, with the same results.

Like Andrew, my client (in another country) and I are having the same issue with not being able to successfully submit the mailchimp form without being in the logged in state.

I just checked it again in IE, FF and Chrome, logged out of WP, and it suddenly works… ok, that is strange, but i’m thrilled it somehow resolved itself!!

    thanks for the feedback.

    Hey Kebo,

Thanks for letting us know things are working. It’s possible with the intermittent issues that this could be related to caching of the WordPress site via a plugin. If you see the issue crop up again and have any plugins installed to the site which cache the home page, you may want to try disabling the page caching to see if that’s what is causing the issue.

    Andrew,
We investigated your site a bit and so far haven’t been able to find specifics as to the behavior being seen there. Would you be able to try disabling other plugins and then attempting submission via the MailChimp form? If that works, you could then re-enable them one by one in order to see which plugin seems to be intefering. If you can let us know what results you see in testing with this approach, we’ll see what else we can think of.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

    Thanks.
I fixed it by disabling the following options in the MC plugin:

    Use Javascript Support?
    Use Javascript Datepicker?

no errors were getting thrown on the page, so I’m not exactly sure why these were would be breaking the signup form. My guess is there’s some conflict with the version of jquery or jquery UI you’re loading, and the one I’m already loading.

    Hi Andrew,

I’m glad you were able to work it out. It did seem that there was some javascript conflict with the plugin. Our plugin should use the versions of jquery and jquery ui included with wordpress. Are you loading your own copy of jquery in your theme? Also did the form still work if only the Javascript Datepicker was disabled? That will help us narrow down what the issue could be.

We look forward to hearing from you!
