I am assisting with a website (https://commonwealthofchrist.live/) that hosts two podcasts. I am using the category podcasting feature. The feed for “The In Him Minute” was created in PowerPress a few months ago and submitted to all the directories. I created the feed for “The Prophet’s House” a few days ago and have now submitted it to the various directories as well.

I have set PowerPress to display the podcast subscription links below the player, but I have discovered that the subscribe links in both categories of posts all direct to The In Him Minute. Even when I’m looking at a Prophet’s House post, if I click one of the subscribe links, it takes me to an In Him Minute subscribe option.

I tried deleting, then recreating the subscribe page per adventure that had something to do with the subscribe links. Since recreating the subscribe page, the “More” link below the player now takes me to a page with an error message even though the page actually exists here https://commonwealthofchrist.live/subscribe-to-podcast/

I’ve double checked the URLs in the “Destinations” tab and they appear to be correct. The In Him Minute Destinations page has https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-in-him-minute/id1435684022?mt=2&app=podcast for Apple and The Prophet’s House Destinations page has https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-prophets-house/id1450148728 yet the links below the player all direct to The In Him Minute.

Perhaps the subscription links are not compatible with category podcasting?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Go to the main Category Podcasting settings page and enable Strict Category Podcasting. Then, make sure your individual episodes are set to the appropriate category within the Podcast Episode box. Clear any site caches, if applicable.

Well, those are all great ideas, but unfortunately, no change.

The box for “Strict Categories” was already checked. The box for “Podcast Only Feeds” was also checked (which I don’t really understand) so I tried unchecking it, but still no difference. I even tried switching to a different theme (2019) and deleted the cache after each change of the settings, but still no change.

As I’m pondering this, it occurs to me that the last few times I created a new Prophet’s House post, it ended up being listed in both the Prophet’s House and In Him Minute categories so I had to go back in to the post and uncheck the In Him Minute category. It’s unlike me to accidentally assign a post to two categories and this has happened a few times now. I’m wondering if something has gone awry just recently that is causing all new posts to be added to the In Him Minute category in addition to their correct category and if that has some effect on the subscribe links.

Are you sure that the correct categories are being selected in the category dropdown menu inside the Podcast Episode box? Also: are you use the correct category is being selected in the Category setting for each Post? (The part of the Post editor where you select the Category for each post.)

Oh my, how incredibly ignorant of me. On the other sites that I work with, we’re using the standard podcast feed, not category podcasting. As a result, I’ve grown oblivious to that category drop-down option. When you mentioned checking the category, my mind went to the blog post category. I didn’t realize there was a category option inside the PowerPress “Podcast Episode” dialog when creating a new blog post.

Everything works now – THANK YOU!
