Subscribe to categories – get daily/ weekly alerts

Hi,

I am looking for a plugin that can support the following:
– users register for specific categories on my blog
– users select daily/ weekly / never for alerts
– blog sends daily registrants a mailing with all articles that match the categories they have subscribed to. if no new article matches (since last day/week) no mailing is sent

Is there a plugin that matches this? Or close to match? I have seen the subscribe2 plugin but it is not quite the same.

Any ideas? I don’t mind changing the flow a little to save on having to make too much custom development.
