Subscribe2 form submit not reloading to blog page

I have installed subscribe2 on a wordpress (3.2.1) site that is using a custom template (built by someone else).

The issue I have come across is that there is no option in the “Set default Subscribe2 page as” drop down (settings> appearance or widget) to select the “categories/blog” page that I have enabled the subscribe widget on.

If i select any of the pages that are available, the subscribe widget doesn’t work when trying to add a new subscriber.

does someone know how the plugin is set up so that I can either tweek the plugin or the website to get it to recognize the page??

I’m assuming that’s all that stands in the way of the plugin functioning correctly.
