I’ve been having issues where users would check the checkbox to subscribe but this wouldn’t be reflected in Mailchimp. I updated to 2.8.0 and did a test:

    • subscribed a user in the my-account page
    • subscribed a different user in the admin section
    • triggered the sync manually
    • waited until completely finished and then checked Mailchimp

Both users were still “non-subscribed” in Mailchimp.

I’m hosted on Siteground but have disabled the SG Optimizer plugin. I’ve also disabled the NGINX Direct Delivery and Memcached options in the Siteground backoffice.

Any ideas what else could be causing this?

I’ve flushed the Siteground Dynamic Cache and am resyncing now. I’ll let you know if that fixed it.

Flushing the cache had no effect. The user are still “non-subscribed”. To make matters worse, the changes in the database have been reverted, i.e. the “mailchimp_woocommerce_is_subscribed” usermeta field was 1 (I verified this) but now is 0 again.

So the sync is going from Mailchimp back into WordPress/Woocommerce?

Cool, thanks. If you want, I can create a GutHub issue. Just let me know if that makes it easier for you.

Hi @petermorlion , thanks for your patience while we researched things further. Unfortunately, we cannot recreate the scenario being described with our testing. With those particular scenarios syncing subscribers work as expected on our end; an update to a customer tends to take about 5-15 minutes to reflect the updated status in Mailchimp.

A couple of follow-up questions for you:

    • Are there any other plugins installed that interact with your Mailchimp Audience?
    • Are these tests being conducted with an email address that was previously cleaned or unsubscribed in Mailchimp?

If you’re still experiencing the problem at the time of this post, please enable Remote Diagnostics from the plugin’s Settings tab and reply with your store URL.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi, thanks for answering and sorry for the late reply. I don’t know of any of my plugins interacting with Mailchimp. I’ll do some more investigating and use some totally new email addresses to be sure. I’ll let you know if I learn more.

I’ve asked my client to ask one of their customers to do a test, as my most recent test seemed to work. But I want to verify with them. I’ll let you know when I know more.

Hi @petermorlion, we just wanted to follow up on this thread. By chance has your client noticed anymore scenarios as described previously? Let us know if you have any new information or if we can close this out for now.

    Thanks!

So we let a user log in and check the box to receive the newsletter. But nothing changed. I didn’t see anything in the logs either. I’m still investigating and will let you know what I find.

Totally understand. Thanks for offering help. When I find the time to decently investigate the issue and when I have more useful info, I’ll file a bug on GitHub.
