Subscribers coming through

    HI

    I have a client site which has been live for some time. As of today, I keep getting emails about people who have subcribed … but we have NO subscribe button so bit confused as to WHERE this is coming from ?

    It doesn;’t look like real people emails so possibly dodgy.

    Do I just CHANGE my settings in the Woocommerce/Wodpress and take off anyone can subscribe ?

    We still need the customers ordering in Woocommerce but I assume they are NOT classified as subcribers when they place an order, they are classified as Customers .

    Therefore I just need to ENSURE we have NO potential issue with the website with these new Subscribers ??

    I understand you’re receiving unexpected subscription notifications. However, as you’ve described you don’t have a subscribe button on your site, it’s possible that these are spam subscriptions.

    I would recommend disabling the option ‘anyone can subscribe’ from your site settings.

    We still need the customers ordering in Woocommerce but I assume they are NOT classified as subcribers when they place an order, they are classified as Customers .

    When someone places an order, they’re classified as ‘Customers’, not ‘Subscribers‘. So, changing the WordPress registration settings won’t affect your WooCommerce customers. You can learn more on user roles here.

    To ensure your website’s security, I would also recommend checking your site for any suspicious plugins or themes that might be causing these subscriptions. Also, consider using a security plugin to further protect your site.
