I’m just testing our WP residents blog. Most of the registered users will only be able to post comments (so the dafault role will be that of Subscribers). I created a test user and when I type the website address and click to log in the user is taken to their dashboard/profile. While this behaviour is good for authors, etc. many of our users are not very computer oriented and it might be confusing for them.

What I would like to do:
    1. a subscriber user types the website address
    2. He/she clicks ‘log in’
    3. He/she gets logged in and stays on the main page of the actual website (not gets redirected to the dashboard/profile)

    How can I do it?
    Thanks for your help.

Please don’t bump. It’s not permitted.

All of that is easy if you make an in-line login form. Search for ‘WordPress Login Form’ on Google and there are a lot of options.

Thanks a lot. Sorry for the bump – but if I hadn’t done it, I’d still be running in circles searching for wrong keywords:) Just joking. I’m not going to bump again.

*grin* It’s all good, knowing the keywords are half the battle. Did that solve your problem?

I think I spend about 75% of my time cleaning things up to keep the forum ‘flow’ better. (The reason we don’t do bumps is that we have a ‘no replies’ view which we use to see who has NOT had someone try to help them out yet!)

Yes, it has solved the problem. Thank you again.
